Can you look for re-manufactured prices... That engine you found is an exact match!!

I'd really like to gi with a NEW/re-man engine!

that engine you posted is guestameted at 25-49k... they're nor sure what it is, but it's around that mileage!

Thanks for your help, I'm not too savvy when it comes to searching the internet.. LOL!

Viper make sure the motor you find would be a match . just because its a 3.8 does not guaranty it would work.. Look at the 8th letter in your Vin to make sure.. as the one in the post is for a k Vin 2005 yr model

Who ever you get the motor from make sure it will work .. different yrs and model motors have little subtle change that may not work for you..

There could be a drop in compresion to meet regulation on gas mailage or front cover and balance that won't work with your trans.. I'm just saying..

I have done to many motor jobs that they say it the same cid and should fit and cause them more money in the long run.

Mine is a "K" VIN!

Not sure if I'm going with the motor Teddy posted, I'm really leaning towards a new/Re-manufactured engine! I'd rather pay a bit more and have a more reliable engine that will last me a lot longer!

Wow that sucks

I don't know if Sully is still around, but I bet he would know of some reputable engine rebuilders...

I don't know if you've tried this route, but one thought if you're dead set on picking up a reman unit on the cheap is to try some of the large companies that specialize in selling remans like this

http://www...m/remanufacturedengines/
http://www...rebuilt_engines_s/61.htm

I'm sure google will turn up a bunch of hits. I've always bought used / imported so can't really comment on the quality of the builds, but they should be pretty good and come with some sort of warranty. Nice part with a reman is the turn around time vs. rebuilding.

Also you're in a great place since there should be a ton of these in Socal. I think places like Kragen etc source their shortblocks from companies like this and then just mark it up.

Good luck. Really sucks to have to go through stuff like this
