I have news for you guys. When windows crashes, locks up, or generally misbehaves - it's not your fault. Unless you're hacking the registry or something. I used to think that way too, though.
MS blames poor security on being the #1 OS (boo hoo everyone picks on me) and try to fool you into thinking it's more robust for it. The truth is they fail to keep it secure because:
1) MS gives users administrative privileges by default so viruses and malware can install themselves without your permission.
2) MS keeps their source code closed in the belief that if hackers can't see the code they can't find vulnerabilities. Guess what, they find 'em anyway.
3) MS relies on 3rd party anti-virus/security companies to secure your computer. These software developers also do not have access to the source code. It's like asking a blind man to paint over stains on a wall.

I know it's not my fault, that's why I used curseing and death threats to get my PC to work...

For digital media arts I prefer a mac. Plain and simple, a pc can't hold a candle to a mac for video/film editing and advanced image manipulations such as compositing in After Effects, Photoshop, etc.

I've worked on both professionally and pc's always have had issues with freezing and crashing due to the OS and the third party hardware often needed to run high end editing apps, while macs (because of the nature of their closed structure) generally operate better in taht environemnt........anyone whose built a pc knows of the horrors of component and driver compatibility and those lovely IRQ interupts. Lol.

Rock........you're an animator. How 'bout you?

lol if you dont cheap out on products a PC can do the same job a mac is rated doing. oh and the "anyone whose built a pc knows of the horrors of component and driver compatibility and those lovely IRQ interupts" all i have to say is . No comment. lol. but once you get past that a custom built cpu will last you for a good 8-10 years if done right.

I've worked on high end "workstations" which would be the equivalent to the macs I've worked on.........same problem with crashes and freezing....and I'm actually a fan of XP! It's quite stable......but for processor intensive activities as those I've outlined, the pc's just aren't as reliable as macs.

For your line of work Zulu (multimedia/video editing), I think the macs are a MUCH better option. But for just typing word docs, and browsing a $500 laptop will suit me just as fine as a 1200-1500 mac.
