if we can get some of the oregon people to let us in on the most efficient method of travel for such a long trip...that would be awesome!

Haha Poolman...

I'm not sure what the deal was with the cheap fares. I've looked around for flights and I could never find one for $99 or even $199. Anything under $300 and I think is a deal as Boise is pretty small. There is typically a morning and an evening flight out of Boise and that's it. I would like nothing more than for somebody to find something less expensive. I might try to call a travel agent and see what they can get us since there will be so many of us flying out of LAX (all of the smaller airports just fly to LAX first and then to Boise).

After flying last year (I used to fly back and forth from Portland to San Jose all the time), I would have to say this is the way to go Ponch. I wasn't tired at all when I got there and everybody else was complaining about the 10hr drive. Fares would be less if there was a busier city to fly into, but there just isn't as far as I know.

Here's one more thought. Shipping the DT's and launchers is going to be expensive. Let's just say $15 each way, that's $30 extra to bring a DT out, not to mention the $10 round trip fare to send an air tank. Don't forget that the second car will need to be paid for too with this many people and will probably need to be an SUV or something similar to put all of the baggage in it.

It would probably be better to pack the DT (2 suit cases per person) than to ship it. Launchers I think we can leave to the locals unless we can squeeze it into a duffle (will one fit in my yellow duffle?). The tanks we can box up and ship together. One box isn't bad and will probably run us $5 each way ~$10.

I'm not too worried about having a destination to ship to. Worst case we can even send it to Pacman at the field like folks do for D-Day.

Thoughts? We can probably pool the camping gear so that one suitcase/hardcase can be dedicated to the DT's and other long weapons. In fact I think I'll volunteer one of my baggage spots for this. Remember folks - 1 carry on that can be small suitcase sized + 1 laptop bag/purse.

This is starting to approach the $500 mark I'm going to try and do something about the airfare, but if anybody has a hookup, do share.
