Farewell to Travis (Mad Maxx) AAR 7 Months ago Karma: 14
As some of you know, I ended up traveling up booking a spot for Travis before I figured out nobody was going . It turned out to be quite a weekend. On Saturday, the opfor were strong and we found ourselves on the ropes fighting an uphill battle more often than not. Our troops kept heart though and as soon as the enemy started losing some of their troops for lunch, we made a strong push and blew their base a few times in succession. The glory didn't last long though as the opfor came back strong and we finished out the day on Saturday battered and beaten, but not broken.

Saturday night we had a great night battle. The weather was perfect and visibility was as good as it gets after the sun sets. At the beginning I hooked up with Kreeper and I think Dorsey was there too. We didn't have to move far until we bumped into an enemy group running a spot light and what turned out to be a strong group of 3-4. They worked well together and had one person running a spotlight down the center of the courtyard while two worked down opposite flanks. Kreeper kept them real busy while I set up shop on his left to wait for the meat to move up into the grinder. The person in the back running the spotlight started raining paint on Kreeper's bunker while the two flankers moved up and I was able to take the easy shots while they were focused on keeping Kreeper pinned. We overstayed our welcome though and the last of their guys moved all the way around our flank and shot Kreeper out from behind. Luckily they hadn't realized there were two of us and I surrendered the last of them.

Later on that night I hooked up with Smeed who was running the large spotlight and one other guy who only had a sword on him. It wasn't exactly what I'd call a balanced fireteam with me being the only person with a gun, but Smeed worked the spotlight like a pro, the other fella moved well, and we had a great run skirting the tape line quietly all the way behind their base and killing any enemy we came across.

Sunday the enemy came back for vengeance and it was a repeat of Saturday with us clawing tooth and nail for survival. At one point, Fiona, SC and I made it deep into enemy territory. We clawed our way in and took over one of their main respawns, but were eventually surrounded and overrun.

Going into the final battle, things weren't looking good. Then Spike came by and gave us some intel that our mission for the final battle would be to take possession of a huge 5' tall frog and drag it back to our side in order to secure it. I remembered some of the OCMI guys talking about using a rope to drag a prop back while under fire and mentioned it to Shrek. He started going bananas and found us some rope. I think people started to get infected by his enthusiasm over the idea as we were somehow able to really work as a team and provide enough cover fire to get the rope secured around the frog and drag it back to our side for victory.

In closing, my hat is off to those who fought for the Disciples of Pain. The enemy were definitely better shooters and able to outgun us for most of the weekend, but our side fought with the most heart and never threw in the towel no matter how bad it got. I also bumped into Kestrel and the Foxhound Crew. I didn't see them much on the field, but one of the Oregon guys mentioned that they were up front and moved real well.

It sounds like it was a great time Deeno.

It's a bummer more of us couldn't make it up there with you... I'm glad you were there to represent us.

Great AAR!!!

Speak softly, but forget the big stick. Carry a belt-fed weapon.
