The Sabre is the regular backbone of your team. The Sabre must be equipped for anything and everything. If not he's stranded usually in the middle of the action without the proper equipment or without a grenade. THIS IS DEADLY for your team. The Sabre is relied on to get it done and get it done well, if he can't do it he shouldn't be in such a demanding position.

With all of the demands of Sabre only a top notch player can hold his weight there, A sabre is the Fist of any unit, the fist that strikes and strikes again not unconventionally but up in your face knocking you around, the Sabre requires a masterful player to play well.

1. Full Set of Camouflage-I myself am partial to the Mossy Oak break-up mainly used for hunting, but I like them a bit more than the Digi-Camo. Camouflage as most of us will agree is ESSENTIAL for any position, no matter what they are doing, one of the better abilities that you can have is the ability to hide effectively, and when it comes to close range Mossy Oak break up is the best. (This includes a hat and camouflaged mask as well) ((Boots preferably Gore-Tex, are also MUCH needed, foot injuries and crap are quite easy to get and good solid, light-weight boots are your best protection.))

2. A ready and well designed gun, I myself have a 98C with Stock, Red Dot sight, and flatline barrel, which I find gives my marker the versatility it needs for the demanding position of Sabre. Basically this topic is up for discussion, but as most soldiers/paintballers, are, they are VERY loyal to their own weapon, and almost NEVER agree that another one tops their own. My other Sabre's and I argue over our weapons ALL the time.

3. At least 5 Grenades. I like the Leapfrog tactic very much, but sometimes it is near impossible to pull of, especially when you and your buddy have managed to become outmaneuvered and under fire from several different angles, an even split of Little Betty's and Big Boy's will do your basic firepower some real complimentary paint and power. A quick grenade saves time too, and even has somewhat of an intimidation factor against walk-ons.

4. A set of maybe 2-3 mines. As I said before your Sabre is a demanding position and you've got to be ready for ALL scenarios, and at points if you've got the job of handling the weak side or an important point or path, a couple mines are HUGLEY effective in helping you stay alive, as you sit still waiting to finish off the survivors of your demolitions handiwork.

5. Extra paint, CO2, gun cleaning kit, all that good stuff that should be complimentary whenever you head out in the field.

6. A camouflaged field pack. One of these is very helpful when you're all alone with just your buddy in the field and you need to carry more paint than your pods can carry, or extra mines and grenades, and even, (when you're traveling with a sniper or are intent on setting an ambush a nice old camouflaged blanket that will disguise you and your buddy as you lie in wait for the enemy to stumble into your nice trap. (Don't forget to pack a water with a straw in your pack to, dehydration can get even the best soldiers if your not careful!)

ALSO: Submitted by; Ninja Jones- A BlackHawk Omega-1 Vest is a nice alternative to the field pack, if you don't have anything overtly large to lug around, the BlackHawk Omega-1 has;

6 pockets for pods.

2 for grenades or tools.

1 for tools.

2 for small tools, or 3 10 round tubes

1 for a hydrapack.

And a heavyweight duty belt.

7. A radio with VOX capability, I think we all know that this one is obvious so no more detail is needed. No Motorola's they have a scan feature and other players can easily scan for your channel and listen in, Radio security is VITAL to anybody and anything, without it, your sniper's location, commander's location current tactics, CAN ALL BE BLOWN, and then everybody on your team gets taken down.

8. Any other equipment that you need to carry for your assignment at one point or another, this can be carried in your field pack too.

9. Last of all, the one thing that will help you out more time than any paintball gun; A BUDDY to fight alongside, the buddy-system is one of the oldest out there, and I promise you this, any buddies can easily beat 5 individuals fighting for themselves. And of course BRAINS

10.PHYSICAL CONDITION-A Sabre must be an all around fit person, with the medium-weight pack and extended time on the field constantly under fire and advancing or moving it gets tiring fast and you've got to be able to keep up. As well your gun will get heavy as well because Sabre guns aren't the lightest guns out there. So get out there and do basic weight-lifting and run endurance as well to get in shape for those 'bigger' games.
