The Dagger position is a hard one and requires some serious talent, it turns into an 'art' as some call it, with your careful aggressive yet precise movements your Daggers drive the squad and move them right where they want to be and right where they should be, he is the biggest adrenaline junkie and loves every moment of his constantly alert state in paintball, he thrives off of the feelings.

For a Dagger be ready to spot the enemy or draw their fire without being shot because you have to use them to guide your squad in and out through the OpFor and occasionally light the enemy up as well, you make an excellent light flanker and move in and out quickly so get ready for some serious sprints.

1. Your point man will want of course camouflage, and like the sabre I prefer Mossy Oak break-up hunting camouflage, and it works well at close range, which is exactly where your Point man will be 99% of the time.

2. The Dagger will find a short rather rapid firing gun the best to use when paint starts flying. Having a short gun will allow him to move about easily and will not hinder his job. And the rapid fire part is something to keep him safe. As soon as the Point man runs into an ambush or patrol a bit of paint from his gun will keep the enemies heads down while either he or the sabre's come in to wipe them out, my Heavy gunners are usually placed a bit farther back from the front three creating a strong buffer for the front 3 and the rest of the squad.

3. For a Dagger one or two grenades should last him. I know a lot of you don't like lugging around grenades but they may come in handy when you're trapped and your sabre's have been taken out of play.

4.Good light-weight boots preferably Gore-Tex which will protect his feet from most everything, do NOT get your regular combat boots that you can buy at a surplus store, they SUCK compared to some boots you can get, the military ones are big heavy have no support and may hinder your running if you're not used to them.

5.Maybe a few pods to carry on himself but not that many, if you need any more paint ask your Sabre who carries extra paint, the Dagger's job is to DRAW fire and although a Sabre can run with a vest and stuff, you don't want to be slowed down by even the slightest bit of extra equipment on you, because most often YOU are the only one that plays full time dagger and if YOU get killed because you ran to dammed slow you'll have to ask your sniper to 'scope' out the enemy which is often time harder than hell to do.

6. RADIO! NO excuses no excuses for not having VOX on your headset either! Remember not to get a Motorola they have the 'scan' feature and enemies can easily search for your freq and listen in on your tactics and future moves.

7. Any mission specific equipment that is required for your objective, although only not many commanders will give your Dagger more equipment when a Sabre is standing by.

8. PHYSICAL CONDITION-Your Dagger must be the fastest sprinter on the squad and must be alert at all time. So basically be in good shape to play this demanding position, if you wimp out the rest of your team is screwed, so get up in the mornings at least 4 times a week and run a mile or two!

9.Brains, you've got to know when to shoot, and when to get shot, and when to not get shot. Try not to get shot too much or else a less experienced Sabre will have to take your place. Know it all and you'll be fine. Your brain is your most powerful weapon.

ALSO: DAGGER RECON TACTICS: Submitted by; Meemah: A good Recon tactic for Dagger's is to have a group of two in a single recon group, a dagger and a Sniper. These two are armed basically with their individual equipment as well as a couple of mines. The dagger then lays down the mines on what he thinks will be high traffic areas, while the Sniper reports the mines location and type back to the CP. This is also a good combo because if the Dagger is discovered, the Sniper lays down long-range fire, while if the Sniper is discovered the Dagger can lay down excellent close range fire.

Another Tactic, is the one that I myself use. It is simply a screen of Daggers that fan out and move ahead of the main column scouring the area for Tango's. But maybe 20 yards behind the screen of Daggers is a Hammer or Broadsword in case of enemy attack. The Hammer makes a good buffer against the weaker and more venerable main column of forces that you're protecting.
