A good sniper is hard to come by, there are many new players that would LOVE to play snipers but they lack some of the qualities needed, most often patience. These qualities can be trained into a person but are rather hard to do, and some people just can't get them down at all. As a Commander or another team player, if someone comes to you wanting to play sniper you're going to have to be honest with them, but actual test them and see if they have what it takes to become a sniper.

A sniper is also an expensive thing to become, you'll most likely need a good gun, with a good barrel, and the most important thing.... TOP OF THE LINE PAINT, paint is a much bigger factor than barrels when it comes to accuracy just remember that.

1.A sniper will most definitely need a ghillie suit. They are paramount to your cover, and if your cover is blown everything around you goes to hell in a hand basket. I recommend the Fast Action Ghillie, as it's well designed, well made, and is very light-weight, quite an easy thing to run in. Home-made Ghillies are okay too I guess but, they can tend to be over-weight hard to run in and rather tedious, also known to trap the heat inside of you, tending you to overheat, and on a hot day of paintball you most definitely DO NOT want that to happen.

Cover everything except your feet or else you'll trip when you run.

Another good place to get your Ghillie suit at, is Tactical Markers.com. Old SEAL makes them custom based on your playing field, send him a digital-pic and he'll get to work on making one, some 700-900 dollars. They're made military style.

2.A sniper marker has to be top of the line, Although I’ve never used one or held one, the Longbow seems like the newest and best thing. Spec-Ops paintball sells it as we all know. If your budget is a tad tight, get a top line barrel and always shoot premium paint, it gets expensive but when your field tactics get down you'll become an earth-shaking invisible force.

UPDATE: Spec-Ops has just come out with the Longbow Magazine Holder. They come in two colors; black and olive drab. Each magazine holder holds two longbow magazines and is pretty compact. Excellent choice for your Longbow.

ALSO: Submitted by, Bookworm-Since snipers are excellent shots, the premium paint actually doesn't add up to that much, with a less output of paint, most snipers can buy better paint than a Sabre or Broadsword even if they have the same budget.

A pistol should be your secondary weapon, as most sniper guns, are MUCH to long to be used effectively when moving around or if your cover gets blown. When you move simply sling your gun over you back, or put it in your ghillie and draw your pistol, this will make for a small rapid firing gun if you get caught when moving, very wieldy too.

ALSO: Submitted By, Delta11; The Tac. 45. Pistol is an excellent choice as a secondary weapon, one of the best pistols out there. It is a blow back pistol with 8 round magazines that are interchangeable easily. Each magazine has a 12 grain C02 cylinder in it, you'll get about 24-30 shots from each C02 cylinder. The Tac. 45. is also about half the weight of any pistol out on the market today. One drawback is that the thing cost some 300 hundred dollars. But hey, it's your money.

ALSO: Submitted By, Bookworm-The Q-Bow is also an excellent choice, with a larger capacity and no magazine changing it sister's the Longbow. The Q-Bow also has the same NO HOPPER style, going except that the hopper is located UNDER the barrel, parallel within, it's an innovative design and is also an excellent choice, with a few advantages over the Longbow, is you have the money, GET IT.
3. You’re a sniper grenades are useless to you, unless you have a strong feeling that your outing is going to go to the shiitter than don't bring any, the Ghillie suit takes up enough space as it is.

4. Like the rest of the guys get some good boots, I like Gore-Tex low-cut boots as they're light-weight breathable, waterproof and are solidly made, you won't have any problem with them.

5. A pod or so will be needed as the clips for the Longbows, are... 35$, kind of expensive but I do highly recommend getting a few extra clips, for speedy reloading. You shouldn't need extra air so don't bother with it.

6.A radio is something a sniper NEEDS to survive, since he'll be playing lone wolf, then constant radio communications with the rest of the team is imperative. If you can get an encrypted radio get one, or else your cover could be blown by the other team listening to your communications with your commander.

7. A top of the line scope should be mounted on your gun, if you don't have a Longbow get an offset rail. Sometimes as in the real world you as a Sniper will be used to simply gather information and relay back to the team, this information is critical when planning your next move or tactic, so get the scope and become good at finding the other teams players.

8.A good eye, one of the most dramatic things to ever hit this world; Sniper-VS-Sniper, your evil twin, practice spotting tell-tale signs of Ghillie suits, like clumping or a pile of brush getting up and moving, because one of the most dangerous people to you out there is the other teams sniper.

9.Be SMART, You've got to have the brains to know when and when NOT to take that shot, what'll happen after you take that shot, do you have a chance of being blown? If you do probably don't take the shot, a dead sniper is useless to your team so don't get killed, even if you can't take the shot without blowing your cover, relay the info back to the team so that they themselves can assault the area.

10. PHYSICAL CONDITION A Sniper has got to be in alright shape, but the most important thing is stealth, just use it and you'll get along fine.

11.UPDATE!!ALSO: Submitted by: Ghost13; Another good thing to have in your larger games is a small trench shovel or trailblazers kit, with a mini pick and shovel. These things are very helpful in a Snipers cover. When people see a Bush, they may think it's just a bush. That's what a Ghillie's for. But when you have a counter-sniper or observer, or even just a player with a good eye for Snipers, it just won't cut it as well anymore. That's where the Trench Shovel comes in handy. All you have to do is dig a small shallow trench/hole and lay down in it. Chances are, when an Observer sees leaves DIRECTLY ON THE GROUND, he's going to think it's a pile of leaves. Easy hiding spot and PERFECT cover. Ghost13 also says that at one time he was actually STEPPED on by another player. That's how good this trench idea is. Use it, and use it well.
