If you can’t see what is going on from where you are you do not want to be there, move.

Always look behind you occasionally. I once followed a player 3/4 of the way across a field and he never looked behind him once until just before the end.

Avoid sticking your head up over your cover. This kind of movement, spy
hopping, is easily picked up because your melon looks nothing like the flat pallet you were hiding behind. Look around the side of your cover, head low to the ground if possible. If you do look make it quick.

Do not talk unnecessarily. You will give yourself away by being overly
vocal. Most of the time this is a pain to your teammates who usually expect some verbal communication. However if they understand what you are doing and are cooperative they can be a big help by continuing to read off the locations of players to you. Imagine the distress the other team will feel when you do call out from somewhere they didn’t believe anyone could be. Radios are a real help with communication both for you and your team mates, no more yelling.

Whenever you move make sure that you are pointing your marker in the
direction you are going so that you are always ready to shoot.

Stay back from concealment like fences and trees. The reason, solid cover will stop a paintball but fences pallets and trees have openings which permit paintbahls to pass through them. The closer you are to a structure with holes the more likely a paintball will actually pass through and hit you.

Be flexible, trying to keep to some predetermined plan never works. The game constantly changes. You have to adapt and change your plan as you go along. Learn to hide in new places, never do the same thing twice in a row. If you were on the right side of the field in game one be on the left in game two, be inventive and unpredictable.

Never shoot from the same place twice once you are discovered. My favorite trick, once I’ve given myself away, is to quickly crawl 10-20 feet parallel to my previous position and then wait for the other guy to start shooting where I used to be. You can guess what happens next.

Lean to be patient. If the player you were stalking suddenly starts moving in your direction, freeze. You have three choices; wait until he approaches and shoot, wait until he overruns you and backdoor him, or shoot now and take what comes. I almost had a player walk on me in just this way three separate times. I told him to freeze and he gave up twice. The third time I didn’t wait long enough for he and his daughter to completely pass me by. His daughter saw my movement and got me, I really wish I’d been more patient.

When you are cornered resist the urge to run. Instead attempt to crawl out into a blind spot and take up a position against the bunker you just left.

Imagine the consternation of a player attempting to bunker you and then discovering that you have disappeared. What’s worse for him is that he is now in your sights.

Whenever you get tagged remember to be gracious and shout "good shot!",
because that player had to work pretty hard to catch you! Its all part of the game.

There is little point in emptying an entire clip at the opposite players, all you do is leave yourself vulnerable. Patience, shoot carefully, and conserve ammo.

Learn to take time in a hurry. One western legend said that he had to learn to take his time, to aim, instead of panicking and blasting away like his opponents.

I'll see you next time
