Have one point man watching only the main area in front of your patrol. Then have the second and third player watching through the wooded area to the front and sides while you move up in case of ambush. Have a last player bringing up the rear watching incase the enemy tries to flank from behind.
When you come to a blind turn halt the patrol team and send the point man and only the point man around the bend to clear the area. Once the area is deemed clear, continue on your route. If it is occupied form an attack team of players around the road and send one of your men through the heavily wooded area to flank the enemy.
