The Emissary Paintball Vest by Flurry Industries is a great piece of equipment and a steal at the price that it is. I used a harness for the longest time. This was mainly because I did not want to spend the money on a good vest that was made for paintball. Then I discovered the Flurry Emissary Paintball Vest.
This is a poncho style vest (no front zipper) and has everything that a scenario player needs including a hydration pouch to run your camelback or platypus system, scenario ID holder, flip-down map holder, two generous sized grenade pouches, and a moveable radio pouch. Some features that I really enjoy are the standard belt-keepers, centered zip-up pouch that is ideal for car keys, and D-rings on the shoulder straps. Another unique feature is the Velcro name and team tags that you can order directly from Flurry Enterprises for the vest. It gives it a personal touch strait out of the box. It also comes with a removable padding that I took out before my first rain game with the vest.
The pod pouches and tank pouch are what really makes this vest unique. They use a high-strength Velcro system so that they can be moved into any conceivable configuration that you want. For example if you like horizontal pod pouches and a vertical tank pouch then simply tear off the pouches, line them up to where you want them to be, and then stick them on. You do not have to worry about them falling off. It actually takes some force to remove pouches when you want to reconfigure them. The tank pouch also has a strap that attaches to the vest to give it extra support. The system comes with two, two pod pouches that each have the ability to hold a third pod via an elastic band and one tank pouch. This gives you the total paint capacity of four pods without using the elastic straps and six while using them. There is a huge air/Co2 pouch. I use a 72ci 3000psi steel tank and there is room to spare. You can order extra pod pouches. This gives you the ability, if you do not use a remote gas system, to increase your paint capacity to six pods without using the elastic straps and nine pods with using the elastic straps. That is a total paint capacity of 1260 rounds! You can conceivably turn your tank pouch horizontal to use your remote with the higher paint capacity but without the strap holding it down it can begin to peel off over the course of the day.
The Velcro system, however unique, is also the problem in my opinion. I like that you can initially set up the configuration of the pods and the tank. Nevertheless, the Velcro tends to attract small pieces of plants and such. Also if you turn the tank horizontal you can not use the strap and it tends to peel off over the course of the day. This can be fixed through sewing on the pouches after you decide on a location.
The only other negative aspect of the vest is that because it is poncho style it can be a pain to take on and off.
Cleaning the vest is as easy as laying it on the ground and hosing it off. You let it air dry for about a day and it looks like new.
It is a one size fits all. If you are either extremely big waisted or extremely small waisted they sell extra big or small straps so that it can better fit you.
This is a great vest to start with. It is very inexpensive and can be picked up from the website for less than $90. It is well made and looks great as well. Reviewer: Josh Goedl Score: 4.5 out of 5 Related Link: Flurry Industries Homepage |
