For the longest time I rented guns. All of my friends owned their own guns and I would always rent them from whhere ever we would go. If my gun broke I could just trade it in to the rental place for a new one. The only problem with the rental guns was the accuracy, which I deemed not to be a problem. This was until my buddies and I went and one of them brought their autococker. The gun just plain kicked our butts up and down the field. It shot exacly where he pointed it every time. From that day forward I decided it might be time to buy a gun.

I had wanted a quality paintball gun but I did not want to speand a ton of money on something that could break down on me. So I poured over the internet searching for a low priced gun that was accurate and did not break down. I had decided on a PMI Piranah R6. I found it for $70.00 online. I now knew what I wanted but I just never got around to ordering it from the website. This went on for almost a year. I used to work for a law office in college. The would have me drive around all over the place to pick up anything from office supplies, to lunches, to droping off unmarked packages at random highrises. So one day I had just gotten lunch and I decided to go into a sporting goods store and just look around. I then noticed that they had a paintball section so a mosied on over to take a look around.
To my amazement they had a whole rack of PMI Piranah R6s. They were on sale for half of $90 and then another 35% off. I ended up buying my Piranha R6 for $37.00. This was an amazing steal.
Once I got the gun I then began to pour over the online reviews of potential upgrades. So I went out and bought a PMI Razor 14 inch barrel and a drop forward. Then about a month later after pouring over many more reviews I puchased a delrin bolt, Ricochet hopper, and expansion chamber.

With this set up I played a couple of games. The gun was so much more accurate than the rentals that I had been used to. It actually shot the paint where I was aiming from about 60 feet in. Also the one really big difference that I noticed between that and my buddies guns was the weight. The R6 weighs practically nothing compared to other guns. This both caused my arm to tire alot less then my buddies and I could bring the gun up and aim it more quickly. Now I even went remote with the gun so It easily weighs half of what it did with a bottle conected to it.

The only problem with the gun that I had was the attatching of the expansion chamber. Most paintball guns have an ASA standard screw in hole at the front of the gun so someone can install an expansion chamber or regulator with ease. The R6, however, did not have this. It had a 1/8 in hole instead of the standard 1/4 in ASA hole. So I had to look all over the internet and send an emial to PMI to find the adapter that they made for it. This was more a hassle than anything else.

Overall the gun is absolutly amazing. One of the coolest features is the quick strip bolt. All one has to do to pull out the bolt and the rest of the guns internals is pull out a pin, hold down a sear relase botton, and pull. Now you can run a squegee through the entire gun and get it really clean. This makes it really easy to clean out everything when a paintball breaks inside on you. However, in all of my play with this gun I have never had a paintball chop on me. Not once. I can not say that about any other gun that I have played with. This is a great starter gun, back up, or with some modifications makes a great pointman gun.

In the end just remember that it is not the marker that makes the player. It just really helps to have a gun that shoots reletivly straight.
