RAP4 T68 Review:

The T68, a beautiful marker, with an ugly history. The T68 is produced by “Real Action Paintball” (http://www.rap4.com/) The T68 derives its name from the fact that it is of the .68 caliber paintball series produced by RAP4 instead of the .43 caliber markers that make up a good percentage of their stock. The series suffered numerous problems in the past, which RAP4 claims to have resolved by re-releasing their T68 markers with domestic parts instead of their over-seas produced internals. That being said, it seems that the T68 has not yet been perfected to the level that would be required by most paintballers.

Craftsmanship:
The T68 may have its problems, but for the serious MilSim player, it’s a spectacular find. These things are built heavy, a loaded T68 (paint included) can weigh anywhere from 10-20 pounds depending on the model. As such, you can drop it over and over without suffering anything more then cosmetic damage. Along with the weight, a detachable magazine helps to give the T68 the feel of a real weapon. While these are all positive aspects of the T68, the marker does come with a list of… areas that it could have done better in. The butt-stock is not as sturdy as one made by its rivals, such as Tippmann. A spot is made especially for a 60g Co2 tank. While this may seem like a good idea, it is impractical for .68 caliber as you only average around 20-30 shots per canister, making the optional air nipple the only option for serious play. The feed neck detaches from the marker, and must be constantly tightened during the day to keep it attached throughout play. Earlier models use over-seas parts, and are of lesser quality then those found domestically. Replacing the parts causes the internals to be stronger then their casings, and overtime they begin to groove the marker, causing problems with leaking and general malfunction. This is a marker that requires constant attention to keep working.

Mod Ability:
The marker comes standard with several picatany rails, making it easy to attach all manner of accessories (Tac-Lights, laser sights, scopes, and even grenades launchers). However it cannot be modded, as it was designed to look similar to the M16 A2 U.S. Service rifle, and all modifications are focused around this fact.

Performance:
The T68 performs much like an A-5 without the cyclone feed. The shots average around the same air usage, and both hold up well on the field. The T68 is slightly quieter then the stock A5. Putting the problems listed above aside, the T68 performs rather well. It can be dropped over and over again without damaging more then the paint. The lack of a customizable trigger severely limits the BPS, so most users will find themselves hanging back to longball the opposition.

Conclusion:
To conclude, the T68 would be an excellent marker were it not for the multiple design flaws. It’ll appeal mostly to those seeking that MilSim marker look and feel, but will be thrown aside by those who don’t want to devote the many hours required to caring for it.
