Fundamentals of Defensive TacticsKey Terrain:a. Secure positions of advantage- High ground
- Barricades or Bunkers
- Good cover and Concealment
Cover & Concealment:a. Ambush- Use the element of surprise to your advantage -- The OpFor needs to come to you
Observation & fields of Fire:a. Prevent Surprise --- Keep eyes on OpFor once located
- Keep your Flanks tied in tight to the objective
b. Deny OpFor a good obs point --- Try to control all high ground
- If unable to control, stay concealed
c. Fields of Fire --- Good angles
- Overlapping amongst the FT members
- Clear and mostly unobstructed
- Set up on the OpFor's avenue of approach
- Set up in a good concealed/covered position
- Don't open fire until the majority of the OpFor is in the "Kill Zone".
