The combat glide is when you’re utilizing the combat stance but on the move (walking forward), using the heel-toe method, one step at a time.
Combat Glide:
Get into a combat stance. Starting with your lead foot, take a half step forward with the heel first touching the deck. Push your body forward keeping your toes of your opposite foot touching the deck. It should feel as if you are rocking. Then step forward with your back foot again with your heel first. While doing this keep you back straight while leaning slightly forward, knees bent, Head up and body squared forward keeping your arms tucked in. Do not try to rush the glide at first because it takes time and practice in order to accomplish a glide. You must work on technique and not speed. If you are doing the technique properly, speed while come naturally.
Practice in front of a mirror or someone else so you may know if you’re doing the technique correctly. You can tell if you’re doing it wrong when you look like a walking duck or like Frankenstein. Remember: slow is smooth…smooth is fast. Note: Never in MOUT do you move backwards and cross your legs while walking (Ninja walk). If you want to fall back, you bound back so you know and see where you are going and not run into one of you teammates field of fire. If you ninja walk you have a high possibility of tripping over you own legs and falling which can give away your position and/or hurt yourself for trying to look high speed/low drag.
