The combat stance is your bread and butter in Urban Assault. If you can’t properly be in a combat stance you won’t be able to conduct proper techniques. This how the Marine Corps does it.

Combat stance:

To get into a combat stance, stand straight up and keep your feet under your shoulders as if you’re trying to keep your shoulders and feet parallel to a wall. Your whole upper body should be facing forward. Slightly bend your knees and lean forward keeping your head up and back straight. Place your lead foot [the foot you use first majority of the time when you begin walking (Which should be your left foot or your wrong)*] a half step forward and keep both feet facing straight forward.  You might feel a little odd. Just bend your knees a bit. You should be able to bounce like a spring. The lower you hold the stance the better.

When holding a weapon you must keep your elbows in and tucked inside your body (the reason for the tucked elbows is to give a less target to the opposing force). Keeping your back straight will prevent lower back problems and the slight lean forward is to absorb the recoil of your weapon when firing giving you a better shot. It also helps when you pull the weapon into your shoulder when in the stance. This also helps with the recoil and helps the weapon stay in place giving you a more accurate shot.

The stance isn’t supposed to be comfortable at first. The more you practice the stance, the more comfortable it will become later.
